The first automatic knitting and crochet pattern translating tool in the world.
Fyba™ is a tool for automatic translation of knit and crochet patterns into multiple languages. Unlike other auto-translators, it specifically translates knit and crochet terms and abbreviations.
Ideal for Designers and Businesses who want to boost productivity by publishing in other languages, it is an easy, fast and cost effective option for translation. It is also ideal for individual crafters who want to read patterns or understand specific terms that are in foreign languages.
Looking ahead to Phase 2, we will add more languages and special features including a service for tech-editing and proofreading your translated patterns. This will be a great source for companies and designers who want to publish patterns in other languages.
For now, if you wish to have your patterns proofread or tech-edited in the language you have translated to, please contact us and we can put you in touch with editors.
CEO & Founder
My background is in Design, having been a knitwear designer for many years and helping launch my label Ella Rae in early 2005. The label is still going strong and I continue to design as it brings a huge sense of accomplishment and satisfaction knowing that people like what I come up with enough to want to make it. I never tire of that feeling and designing has now become a form of relaxation when I compare it to building a start-up company!
With resources available like Instagram, Facebook and Ravelry (for the few that haven’t heard of it, it is a free global site for sharing patterns) along with a multitude of websites and blogs for knitters and crocheters sharing patterns the world has gotten smaller and more accessible, but of course language is still a barrier.
Driven by the idea that it would be wonderful if we could all explore and share patterns from all corners of the globe, fast forward 2 years and lots of hard work later, here we are at the beginning of that journey.
